In Central Indiana, we know that there are hubs of innovation that are driving discovery, invention and enterprise. Forthcoming analysis of Central Indiana’s “Constellations of Innovation” commissioned by the Central Indiana Corporation Partnership (CICP) and conducted by the Global Institute on Innovation Districts (GIID) will reveal that Central Indiana is an innovation powerhouse with scientific discoveries, patented inventions, and advanced industry output that outpaces national averages. The value chain connecting discovery to enterprise is resulting in meaningful economic activity (see attached slide). Better understanding and aligning our assets throughout the innovation value chain can lead to sustainable economic growth and increased wages throughout Central Indiana.

During the Catalyze planning process, CIRDA will build on CICP’s research to deliver a plan that presents a focused, coherent strategy for building on the tremendous innovation that is already occurring. The strategy will also include recommendations for aligning public, private, and philanthropic organizations on key economic priorities, because with consensus on priorities, strategic investments at the local, state, and federal levels can be leveraged for maximum impact.
